It is not easy to build a bunk bed tent but here is how I made it. I thought of using a series of ties so that it can be attached to the bunk bed but another idea popped up which is to use a more extensive technique with the use of other materials and not just tying this and that.

But first, the bunk bed tent had clear vinyl for windows and the outer and inner fabrics are made of quilting cottons. The outer windows have flowers and some butterfly prints all over and the other one has hippos on a red background. There are two big zippers which closes the door and a twill tape for edging the window.

For the 4 opening sides of this bunk bed tent, I used copper pipe around it and mounted it with custom-cut wood blocks to fit the sides. It looks cleaner of course rather than my first idea of knots and ties all over the bunk bed tent.

Before cutting the fabric to make the walls, windows and door for this bunk bed tent, I even drew a sketch of what it should look like. It served as a pattern for the design and so that I know exactly what I should need to complete this personal project.

Measuring the sizes of different sides of this bunk bed tent was not easy as I have to move the bed from the corner so I can get the perfect measurement. I did not want to waste the materials by cutting it into wrong sizes, so I was quite careful. I did mess up a little with one of the side flaps but I just simply used it to cover the part where it is not obvious to see.

When all is somehow followed as according to my sketched, I asked my friend to come and see how this bunk bed tent turns out. He was very impressed although he commented on adding more designs like painting a pseudo fence in the doorway to make it look like a house instead of a tent. It was an absurd idea since this bunk bed tent is a tent and not a house but I let him do the painting so that he can have a pride in helping me build this bunk bed tent.

After all is done, we both cheered ourselves with a bottle of zero coke celebrating how good we were at completing such a small yet fascinating project. I slept happily on this bunk bed tent that night and was really proud of myself.

After a month or so, I changed the door with another cotton fabric I bought from Wal-Mart and now instead of a zipper, I installed a small pipe over the top and used a hanging curtain so that it is easy to open it by simply dragging it to the sides. Now getting in and out of this bunk bed tent is much easier than before.
